NATIONAL CHAMPIONS - 2000

Thanks to 232 (Vintage) and 25 (New Brunswick)

Below you will see pictures of our innovative solution. Our robot was unique in that it solved the 'problem' in a different way than most. Becases it could hold 8 balls from the human player and quickly dump them all while hanging from the bar it was capable of scoring 22 points by itself. All an ally had to do was to block an opponent or get on to the ramp and we were assured almost 25 to 30 point per match - this led to a high amount of QPs - and we seeded in both Regionals and Nationals(10).

While offense gets you into the elimination rounds, defense wins here. Our allies had awsome defensive capabilities that cinched the championship for us. Here are some of the design details of our machine pictured below.

This is our 2nd year of competition. We learned a lot from our rookie year. We learned simplicity and durability may often be better than complexity that is vulnerable to failure. Our robot has four motors. During our design we considered picking balls up from the ground, a goal blocker, etc., but our primary design elements put us at 129 lbs. do we didn't add too much. We will be modifying this site soon with more pictures from the competition.

We were hoping to get into the finals this year - we really didn't expect to winin our second year. But now the bar is even higher - no team has ever repeated as national champion.
