Step up to the Simple Machines Robotics Challenge!

Lego robotThe 2002 Fall Simple Machines Robotics Competition for elementary students is here. Is your team up to the challenge of assisting the LEGOnauts since their transporters were damaged when landing on LEGO Centauri? Getting the LEGOnauts from their landing zone to their exploration zone will not be an easy task. In the documents below, you will find everything we know about the environment on LEGO Centauri and the equipment available to build a robot to help the LEGOnauts. We look forward to seeing your team meet the challenge!

Below are several PDF files that are step-by-step instructions on how to build the game pieces. The complete set of game pieces can be constructed from one LEGO Simple Machines Set.

If your school is interested in participating, please contact Lucien Junkin at Lucien.Junkin@jsc.nasa.gov.

The tournament will be on Saturday, December 7th at Hogg Middle School.

We would also like for the students to get the opportunity to name the challenge so as of now, this challenge is nameless.

Please feel free to contact Lucien with any questions or comments at Lucien.Junkin@jsc.nasa.gov. It is important to note that this is the inaugural Simple Machines Robotics Competition and many situations will arise that were never thought of, so please bear with us as we make this the best possible experience for the students.
