Course Information and Requirements
Tech 180J-1.0 semester unit-CR/NC grading
The Department of Technology, in the College of Engineering at San
Jose State University, in partnership with the NASA Robotics Education
Project, is offering one University semester credit for NASA Robotics
for Research and Exploration, June 22-July 15 2004. This class is titled,
Individual Studies in Technology Issues and is graded on a Credit-No Credit
basis only. This class is limited to 15 students maximum. Note: Students
wishing to just view the webcasts may do so without registering-- see
the Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.
How to Register
1. Print out the PDF Special Session Registration Form
at http://iesweb.sjsu.edu/specialSession/pdfs/rdform.pdf
2. Complete the registration form. Your SJSU ID number will be assigned
by SJSU upon receipt of this form, and emailed to you within 3-5 working
days. You must include your email address on the registration form. Also,
you must fill in the Class Request information. From left to right, starting
with class number, that information is :30821, Ind. Study , TECH 180J,
01, add, 1.0, 6/22-7/15, $44.00.
3. Fax the completed Registration Form to the number indicated, attn Darcel
4. You will be emailed your SJSU Student ID number that will allow you
to pay your $44.00 fee for the class. Payment will complete the registration
process.
Requirements to Receive Course Credit
1. Be officially registered in the class by June 21, 2004
2. View and participate in all eight webcasts between June 22 and July
15, 2004. Link to the webcasts at: http://robotics.nasa.gov/courses/summer2004/schedule.php
3. After each lecture 5-10 practice exam questions will be posted related
to the topic of that lecture. It is recommended that students study these
questions.
4. Print out and complete the final exam that will be posted on the website.
5. Write a two-three page ,word-processed paper on a topic related to
the subjects being studied. A final topic will be posted prior to the
start of the class. This assignment will not be returned. Save a copy
for your own records in the event the original is lost.

- Begin your paper by signing your name
after typing
the following statement:
I, (print your name), certify that this Robotics Assignment is my
own work
- The body of the paper should be typed using 12-point Arial font, 1
inch margins on all sides, and double spacing, except for
the single-spaced
heading, and must be no longer than two pages.
- The essay and the exam must be completed and mailed
to Professor James Beck. The assignments must be postmarked by August
12, 2004.
