One Undergraduate Credit Hour - Course Description and Requirements
The Center for Educational Technologies® at Wheeling Jesuit University, in partnership with the NASA Robotics Education Project (which will provide the 60 student tuition scholarships), is offering one university semester credit to the first 60 qualified high school registrants for NASA Robotics for Research and Exploration, Sept. 24-Oct. 17, 2002. Participants must meet the criteria described below. Note: Other students wishing to view the webcasts may do so without registering – see the schedule under Course Requirements. Fees will be returned if students are not accepted.
Juniors and seniors, register for one credit by completing these two steps:
1. Send the completed Registration Form [print out PDF Registration Form and this Course Description] and a check or money order for $20 made out to Wheeling Jesuit University (or signed credit card information) by Sept. 18 to:

2. Have your high school guidance counselor mail a letter of recommendation on school letterhead to the above address by Sept. 18 stating that you are a high school junior or senior who is ready to undertake a one-credit, university-level, introductory robotics course.
Course Requirements (these will be discussed during the Sept. 24 session)
1. View and participate in all eight Tues.-Thurs. webcasts and the associated online chats between Sept. 24 and Oct. 17, 2002. Link to the webcasts at http://robotics.nasa.gov/courses/fall2002

2. Submit a minimum of two questions per chat session (before or during the webcast or during the 30 minutes following each webcast). Enter each chat from the location given when you receive your course confirmation e-mail. Use the assigned login name.
3. Complete the online, five-question quiz following each webcast.
4. Robotics Assignment.

c. The body of the paper should be typed using 10-point Arial font, 1 inch margins on all sides, and double spacing, except for the single-spaced heading, and no longer than 1 to 1.5 pages.
Assignments must be postmarked by Oct. 26, 2002.
The Robotics Assignment will not be returned. Save a copy for your own records in the event your original is lost in the mail.
