Future Flight Central and Air Traffic Simulation

Nancy Dorighi is the manager for the Ames Research Center Future Flight Central (FCC). FCC is a virtual Air Traffic Control Simulator that is designed to advance flight scheduling technology for the future. NASA and the FAA and numerous airports around the country work together on this project to increase safety and efficiency for today's growing air transportation requirements.

May 3 : Professor Mila Getmansky-Sherman,
Practical Engineering and MolySym, a Molecular Simulation Educational Robot

Professor Getmansky-Sherman's interest in the commercial and educational applications of engineering will give you a model idea of being an engineer in the world today. Her background in chemical engineering, management, and finance has enabled her business approach in the development of a Molecular Simulation robotic tool called MolySym.

April 26: Yvonne Clearwater, Ph.D., Engineering - The Past and Future

Yvonne Clearwater, Ph.D. trained in design, media broadcasting, communications, and psychology, enabling her to be involved in a variety of projects, including the initial design of the International Space Station. The Robotics Curriculum Clearinghouse and the online course sponsor GIRL are a product of her innovation and drive to encourage the scientists and engineers of the future.

April 19: Elizabeth Bauer,
Human Resource Facility
and the International Space Station

Elizabeth Bauer is a team leader immersed in projects such as the Shuttle Space Lab, Mir Space Station, and the ISS Missions. As a mechanical engineer, she splits her time at Headquarters (Washington, D.C.) and Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX) working on design, testing, manufacturing, and integration for some of the leading Exploration Systems Mission Directorate programs.

April 12: Tahani Amer,
NASA Flight Research in Aerospace Engineering

Mrs. Amer has a diverse background in instrument development for aeronautics, wind tunnels, thermal conductivity, and fluid dynamics. She moved to the U.S. from Egypt and developed a successful career as a female aerospace and mechanical engineer. Currently, she is working at NASA Langley in Virginia.

April 5 : Dr. Ashley Stroupe
Planetary Rovers

Dr. Stroupe will take you on a learning journey with the Mars Exploration Rover and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Ask her why this project has been so successful and what future projects are in store for robotic exploration at NASA!

March 29 : Spring Break - No Broadcast

March 22: "Coffee Talk" with Anne Wright and Susan Lee
Making Your Own Robot

Anne Wright and Susan Lee work on the K9 rover at Ames, along with other projects like K10 and the Botball robotics competitions. They will show you examples of some robots and the required pieces to making your own robot! Mrs. Wright has a background in computer science and Ms. Lee is an electrical engineer.

March 15: Maria Bualat
the K9 Rover

Maria Bualat is the Project Lead for the Ames K9 Rover Prototype at Ames Research Center. She is involved in many aspects of developing and testing the rover, as well as in the progression of future goals for the project.
